Greenhouse
We started about a mile south in 2003, over 20-years ago.
Greenhouse, one word as in where plants grow. our vision is for this to be a home where residents grow physically, emotionally and spiritually.
This is a 7103 square foot home including basement with 9-bedrooms, 5-bathrooms, 5-living rooms, two kitchens and a dining room. 4-fireplaces and a wood burning stove (Legally it’s a duplex but we all share the building)
Kitchens:
Those who use the 1st floor kitchen all share food in the common pantry. We typically eat dinner together 2-3 times week, with whoever is around, and eat on our own the rest of the time.
Those who use 3rd floor kitchen provide their own food.
Understanding monthly costs
Genesis talks about “Shared Contribution” not ‘rent’ as this is not a rental situation, You are paying a contribution to the Genesis 501c3 non-profit and are participating in the non-profit as a member. Our community is offered for non-commercial purposes as an extension of our religious mission. Occupancy is a programmatic benefit for those who are members of the Genesis order and in active alignment with our Covenant.
Shared contributions typically are adjusted annually during our financial review. Adjustments are made based expenses and needs of the community.
The dark yellow amount below is to help you compare Genesis Costs to other living situations.
For example, If your shared contribution is $630 a month, and live in a house with common pantry (Shared Groceries), and you help with maintenance (shovel sidewalks, mow grass, etc.) you pay the amount in Green monthly. Your monthly amount will be different if you don’t assist with maintenance or if the building your in doesn’t share groceries.
